Dominic Utton and Danny Dyer have written about the most ruthless, terrifying, and passionate football fan organizations in the world. In their book The Real Football Factories, they change your perspective on the toughest and most organized groups of football fans and spectators, sharing their experiences during encounters with gangs of violent individuals and the leaders of these groups.
The authors, along with their small team, traveled to more than seven countries around the world and spent time among the most fearsome football fans, sometimes getting into fights, sometimes getting beaten, and at times fleeing for their lives out of fear.
Their intention for the trip was to create a series about football supporters, but they either were not allowed to film in all locations or the footage they captured was not suitable. In fact, this book is the unedited version of the adventures from their journey.
The series they made aired both inside and outside the UK until Dominic Utton, a prominent British journalist, put the series on paper and published it in 2008. Croatia, Serbia, Poland, Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Turkey, and Italy are the nine countries whose football fan organizations are introduced in this book.
